IAS Vascular Plants in Bulgaria |
Petrova A., Vladimirov V. Georgiev V. 2013. Invasive Alien Species of Vascular Plants in Bulgaria. Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia. 320 pp. Hardback. ISBN 978-954-9746-30-3.
The book includes information about 60 invasive and potentially invasive alien species of vascular plants found in Bulgaria. The selection of species is a result of a thorough analysis of the available literature data and several years of field observations of the authors. For each species is presented: a brief description of the morphological, biological and ecological characteristics, origin and distribution, major measures for control. All taxa are illustrated with original colour photographs. The book is the first of its kind in the Bulgarian scientific botanical literature and aims to present to and focus the attention of the authorities concerned with nature conservation on the growing impact of invasive alien species on natural habitats, species and communities. Also, the book will be of interest to scientists, university lecturers, students, teachers and all nature lovers. A Bulgarian edition of the book was issued in 2012 (ISBN 978-954-9746-27-3).
